Artist Statement
These are projects that I've undertaken separate from my work in theatre. All of these projects have tested the limits of my skills as a maker, and I've learned skills from these projects that I'd never have the opportunity to pursue otherwise. Embroidery taught me vector design, I learned the basics of plumbing and tiling rennovating my bathroon, and the dragon has taught me to sew quickly and accurately without pinning.
舞龙 wǔ lóng dragon
This is a multi year, ever evolving project to create a performable wǔ lóng dragon. My colleague, Vinh Bui, makes the head and armatures, and I sew the body.
Bathroom Rennovation
was performed in my basement between December 2023 and June 2025. It was directed, designed, and built by myself.
Machine Embroidery
When I worked at the Mason Innovation Exchange, I taught myself how to use the Brother PE-800 embroidery machines so that I could the cirriculum and teach the machine embroidery workshops.
